EZ HEAT ?

Postby tx_swordguy » Thu Mar 07, 2019 1:57 pm

I came across a post mentioning EZ HEAT block heater I believe it was on a jabiru sonex. I am interested in it but there was no model number in the post. Was just wondering if anyone knows which size to get or has a measurement on the flat side of the oil pan on a jabiru 3300. Yes I am lazy and trying not to take the cowl off just to get a measurement. My condition is due this month so it will all come off soon anyway. I just wanted to order it now if possible. Mark.

This is the heater I have on my Jabiru, any 4x5 pad will work. Mine works great, brings oil up to around 90 degrees on a cold winter day in about 2 hours.
Its been installed for about 4 years and still stuck good.

Thanks John, it is not quite as high wattage rated as the EZ HEAT, but it is less than 1/2 as much! Just ordered one. Did you place it on the side of the oil pan or the rear, in front of the intake plenum?

Right side, pilot view. You will see when where you get it, on the side. Clean the sump real well with acetone prior to sticking it on. I sealed the edges with RTV.

John,
I got the heater you mentioned. I noticed the sump has a rough texture from the casting. Do I need to sand it down smoother? or just make sure it is clean and seal the edge with silicone?

Degrease the sump, stick it on and seal the edges.
