We went for a walk to feed the fish by the bridge. A little scuddy out. Not all the aviation here is glamorous. Here is a mighty rental C152. I think the green one flies better than the orange one.

I have been encouraged. That is always trouble.

There are cool vehicles here. This one has an aerovee minus the aero.

Jim is a hangar neighbor across the aisle. I hand prop for him sometimes. We were out riding bikes and saw he was ready so we stopped to prop.

Both boys outgrew their bikes. A new one for Adam and Matthew got his old one. Now that he has a new bike he is a lot faster and likes cruising the taxiways better.

I flew with a friend in his Luscombe years ago. Great airplane and I thought I wanted one until I seen how much work it could be to get her returned to mother earth sometimes. His had a starter but I've hand propped a few in my time. Don't like hand propping and would rather not. I do enjoy starting when it goes like this:

I like the two ignition switches and the pushbutton starter. Reminds me of the Pawnee.

Looks like my first airplane, a Luscombe 8A, non-electric, 65 HP, no impulse mag, and no flaps. Both wife and I learned to fly in that, did not seem difficult to land, used slip extensively. Usually started first pull -- when cold. Only found one way to start it when hot --- Let it cool off.

Hi David,

I bet you are correct. I have never landed a Luscombe so it may just have been his technique. Don't think I ever seen him land on pavement ... said it would get too squirrely on him. I do remember seeing a young lady taking instruction in a Luscombe about a year ago and she seemed to be doing OK in it.
