1534 Panel update

I test fit the panel today. It fit well. I am worried about the cross channel rubbing on the wires so I will put a piece of rubber hose on the edge. I also got the compass installed.

Great job on the panel Dana! I sure wish that MGL Xtreme was available when I bought my stuff. I love how small yet useful and capable it is! You'll be happy you went with the (cigarette lighter) power plug for charging electronics!

Are you going to install air vents in the front windshield? Side mounted throttle and mixture?

I mounted the RV vents on both sides just forward of the panel. I am going with the Sonex ST center throttle/mixture per plans that will mount to an angle that will mount center and have the head phone jacks on each side of the quadrant.

I see you have the plans type left hand flap and brake bracket installed. I first flew mine with center throttle and mixture but left side flap and brake. This created a bit of a hand dance in the pattern when adjusting throttle for landing and then switching hands to deploy flaps then back to control throttle. I thought it would be ok but I did get a bit of a rebuke from the factory. One of the first changes I made was to incorporate the rest of the sport trainer mod by moving the flap and brake to the center. It wasn't that big of a mod (maybe a short days worth of work) but it does seem to make life easier when your busy on the approach and roll out. I did the center throttle and mixture out of habit. The planes i trained in and owned all had left stick right throttle set ups (C152,Luscombe 8a, C177). My biannual was in a Champ and I never was comfortable with the left hand throttle-right hand stick.

Currently I fly left and right seat in C-172's, 182's and Cherokee's getting prepared for my CFI. I am aware of what you are saying. I have sat in and tried it. My thinking is that the cockpit is so small I would not have a problem switching hands or reaching the throttle with my left hand. I was not planing on giving transition training when I set out to build. But when I have finished the build and CFI I will move the flaps and brake to the center.

On several of your pictures, I see a black or red thin box, wired in line. One is marked "starter 7A"? Are they in line fuses?

Yes they are inline fuses. I purchased them from B&C. I think the red ones are 12ga. That is what I remember.
