COMPRESSION RATIO

Postby ltaylor » Sat Aug 16, 2014 10:23 am

I neglected to record my deck height or compression ratio and work has pulled me from my build for over a year. Can someone advise on how to determine the ratio 8:1 or 7:1 without removing the heads/jugs? I'm thinking that using compression or measuring from the piston at TDC to the outside of the spark plug hole would work. I'd appreciate any advice and numbers if either of these two techniques would work. I'm sure that I set up for 8:1, but I need to be "sure!"

Thanks,
Lane

Might I suggest you measure the thickness of the shims you placed under the cylinders, easy to do with a calipers or even a short steel ruler, then refer to the Aerovee manual and see what you got.

Thanks Chuck. I'll see if I can identify them to measure.
