Hi folks,
I guess the SAM LS made a splash at KOSH this year. It's cute. Looking at the site:
http://www.sam-aircraft.com/I noticed is that the company makes available for download a bunch of eDrawings files produced directly from the CAD model, for example:
http://www.sam-aircraft.com/admin/_tmp/ ... 8f7ce.easmIf you open that with the free eDrawings app, obtainable from:
http://www.edrawingsviewer.com/you can "peel apart" the design by making selected parts transparent or invisible, and "fly" around the parts to see how the assemblies fit together.
Given that I'm sure Sonex uses a CAD package like SolidWorks or CATIA to design the Sonex, it'd be great if Sonex and other manufacturers did the same. There is of course the risk of people being able to more easily copy the design that way, and I leave it up to Sonex to decide what the commercial implications are. But for a builder, I think it would be an awesome tool to understand assemblies and avoid some mistakes.
