wing rigging

Postby dtwolcott » Thu Jul 24, 2014 10:28 am

Just thought I would provide a little update on the progress of the partially built Waiex I purchased in April. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until I started to check the wing attachment parts for their accuracy. Boy was I in for a surprise. :o The process used by a previous builder for rigging the wings was in no way the correct way. I will not go on to the details, lets just say the 3/8 inch holes drilled out in the spars and fuselage looked like they were drilled out with a very dull bit and not in the proper location. After talking to Kerry at tech support it looks like all of the wing attach parts on the spars need to be replaced as well as the vertical forward fuselage angles that the spar box attaches to. looks like I in for quite a bit of demolition and reconstruction on the forward fuselage. O well I guess that is the fun part of building your own plane. I wish I wasn't having so much fun. I am heading to Oshkosh Wednesday for the rest of the week hope to get a chance to meet some of you.

Don,
Since you don't often come to the Thursday coffee @ 563...look me up in the Sonex area at Airventure.
