Hi to all the Sonex folk!
I'm Mike Kelley from (sometimes) sunny Lake Oswego, Oregon. Lake Oswego is a suburb just 7 miles south of Portland (actually I'm writing this from a hotel room in South San Francisco).
I've e-mailed or talked with a bunch of you, and I've had the honor of flying with just a few of you, so I thought I’d give a shout out and introduce myself. My Sonex, N154MK, SN#1284) is a BRIGHT red tri-gear, with a Jab 3300 and a swing-back canopy (many of you will recognize it). I have an MGL Enigma, XCOM 760 radio, and Microair T2000 transponder. So far, I am extremely happy with all of my electronics. I recently installed a 7 gallon aux tax which allows me to travel non-stop from Portland to central California (about 4 hours). Too bad my bladder can’t last that long!
I started building on April 1, 2009 (yes…April Fools day), finished in about 1150 hours and had first flight on Sept 20, 2012. Since then I’ve accumulated ~140 hours. I also have a Grumman AA1A (available for sale ) that I flew during the build process.
I have a YouTube channel under the name OregonSonex
http://www.youtube.com/user/oregonsonex, and a website
http://www.kelley-group.com/index_files ... ex1284.htm featuring my build process. (Sorry, the website only works for IE ver 8 and eatlier.) Because the website need rework, you can get direct access to my photos at
http://picasaweb.google.com/Sonex1284/.
I may be reaching out to you “West Coast” guys, because I’m trying to compile an e-mail contact list. There has been an interest in having some WC fly-ins, but it’s hard to get the word out.
Feel free to reach me via e-mail
mike@kelley-group.com, or phone +1 (503) 684-1797. I’m looking for places to go and other Sonex builders/owners to fly with!
