flying open cockpit

Today I watched the movie Blue Max, which has lots of open cockpit biplane scenes. With it being so hot here in Cincinnati, I was wondering if some have flown with the canopy removed. I used to take the side door off my CGS Hawk in the summertime, and the extra air was really nice. In the near future I plan on renting an old Stearman biplane to help me get my biplane fix.

Not completely "open cockpit" but I have flown with the canopy cracked open an inch or so. I have a means of locking the canopy open for ventilation. I flew around the pattern once with it open.
