Kudos to Sonex Tech Support for a Simple Fix

I just wanted to give a shout out to Sonex Tech Support. I was having trouble with my aerocarb and sent them an e-mail on Tuesday morning. When I was tightening the setscrew after adjusting the needle the setscrew wouldn't tighten against the needle and was causing the needle to move with it. I did some research online of old posts and people had all sorts of complex suggestions from putting a ball bearing between them to having to polish both surfaces smooth. By the end of the day Sonex had sent me a reply. So what did they suggest? Hit it with a hammer. They told me to take the needle out and peen over the threads just a little bit with a hammer. I thought it was a crazy idea but figured I didn't have much to loose so I tried it. Surprisingly it worked perfectly. Peening the threads over a little bit caused just enough drag on the needle that the setscrew could now catch it and tighten down locking it in place. I just thought I would post my experience here again congratulating Sonex for having some great tech support. If you are having any sort of an issue with one of their products don't hesitate and just shoot them an e-mail. Sometimes the fix is a lot simpler than you think it will be.

SO Keith, just to be sure here.. (because there is a small set screw holding the needle to the carrier body..)

You are talking about the needle carrier itself moving down when the big set screw in the body is tightened to lock the carrier?

So you remove the needle carrier and give the big threads on it some technical taps to deform slightly and aeroinjector nirvana is assured.

Yes. I am talking about the big threads on the needle carrier(the ones your arrow points to). A few light taps with the hammer to slightly deform the top of the the threads fixed the issue.
