Hello

Hello

Postby Sonex1517 » Fri Jun 03, 2011 10:16 pm

Well, someone has to go first!

I am Robbie Culver, and my wife Brenda and I are new to the Sonex community. We attended the spring workshop, left with plans #1517 and our tail kit arrived about a month ago.

I am an instrument rated private pilot, used to own a Piper Cherokee and a Cessna 150F before that. I also am an active aviation photographer and writer, and have been doing a little work for Midwest Flyer magazine.

We chose the Sonex after I spent the last 9 years obsessing and analyzing and working through the idea until the time and the finances were right. And here we are...

We plan on building an AeroVee powered taildragger, intending to keep it simple and affordable (which is why we are building!)

So far the tail kit has been a fun beginning, and while we have barely gotten started on the journey, we are looking forward to the adventure we know it will be....

Hope to meet everyone and get to put faces to names over time....

Best of luck to you with your project, Robbie. It is indeed quite a journey but the greater the effort the greater the reward... :)

Hi Robbie and Brenda. Please read my post to Michael Farley and sub your names for theirs. My finger clicked on the wrong message.

Liked your website Robbie especially the coverage of the DeKalb fly in. I presume it was EAA 241. I was a member when I lived in DeKalb and still have my chapter shirt with the flying corn! Got my private out of DeKalb as well, when they only had one runmway. If you are ever near Dixon look up Jack Bally who is building a 1/3 scale B-17. His site is www.ballybomber.shutterfly.com

Have good progress and I will check your site often.

Hi David

Yes, that was us in the photos from the Sonex workshop on the web site, if you mean the most recent workshop at the end of April.

Thanks for the kudos - photography is another one of my addictions.

We're into the tail section now and enjoying each challenge we find. Some more than others. ;)
