As a devoted camera geek, I am astounded to say I have seen a GoPro attached to a wing with one of the GoPro suction mounts. It stuck there too.

I would never condone such a mount, but it does work. Me, I would want safety wire at a minimum to ensure no one on the ground is hit by a falling camera and mount. I am still waiting for our friendly federal aviation agency to come down hard on the camera mounts...

There are also mounts that make use of the 1/4" threaded tripod adapter on most cameras, and then use AN hardware in the wing or fuselage to secure it. Similar to how the tie downs are secured in the wings. (I know of one Sonex where they made the tie downs something you install when you need them, not permanently. Hopefully that person will chime in here about how they did it)

Whatever you do, make sure you have a method to trip the camera shutter. This is where GoPro has a great system. You can do it with a wireless connection.

I've been witness to a GoPro duct taped to the wing of a P-51 Mustang and can tell you after seeing the footage that it holds on at speeds of close to 400 mph. Like Robbie, I wouldn't do this myself, but I have heard of many people simply taping camera housings in place using duct tape or similar.

I have a Swann which is very similar to a GoPro that has a remote and is mounted on the top of the windscreen of my T51 with a 3M sticky pad. I check it every flight and only wonder how I'll get the 3M pad off. Mounting cameras on the aircraft gives a one dimension view. I bought a head strap mount so I video where I'm looking. Either way it is a good critic of landings and maneuvers.

GoPro here with several of the self adhesive shoes mounted in various places. They work great.

Notice how I blow oil from the breather after the first roll. I have a Sonex aerobatic oil breather, but it doesn't catch it all when you go upside down.
There's a fun part showing me falling out of the top of a loop into a spin! Fun day just yanking and banking and making myself nauseous. The landing was a challenge too. Crosswind gusts keeping me on my newly hatched taildragger toes.
I also noticed smoking a tire trying to make the taxi way after landing. I shouldn't have hit the brakes so hard and just took the next exit.
