Hi Vern! sorry I didnt see this earlier. I wondered that myself, but am not proud to not go ahead and lather them up as I assembled them, just to make sure. Years ago a valued AP/IA assisted me in rebuilding my O-300 for my recently departed C172, and his method of assembly lube for engines was 50/50 mix of STP and white lithium grease, well sturred...not shaken... to make a very nice sticky mess. But it works! thats what I am using. :)
