Subject: Sonex take on scratch building vs. kit building
[Sonextalk,2.19.13] [Sonex]

Hello again Sonex eGroups-

As always, Sonex appreciates and respects all of the views and opinions
shared on these eGroups as they relate to scratch building vs. kit building.
We have always considered ourselves to be scratch builders having designed,
fabricated, and assembled all of our factory aircraft ourselves...so we
understand the tremendous sense of accomplishment that building every piece
of an airplane brings. We have also built a few of our prototypes using
predominantly kit components and understand what a tremendous time savings
they represent. It's still a great feeling of accomplishment and takes
considerable skill, dedication, and persistence to see a kit aircraft
project through to completion regardless of the level of fabrication
completed for you.

Sonex deeply appreciates every single customer we have served through the
years. Every hard-earned dollar spent with Sonex Aircraft is carefully
invested to ensure a professional, consistent, and efficient operation is
maintained. It does not matter if you've spent $1 or $30,000 with Sonex, you
should expect and will receive the same enjoyable experience with our
company every single time. If you don't, please tell us about it. We want to
learn from it and correct it. Anyone who's owned and operated a business
understands the huge commitment this takes in blood, sweat, and tears.

One way to look at our Terms and Conditions as they've evolved (and grown)
through the years is as our small business has "gone corporate". Another
way to look at it (and the correct way to look at it in our opinion) is as a
contract with the customer clearly and concisely stating what we can and
cannot do as a company based on our past history. Every item on the Terms
and Conditions big and small comes from a specific or group of Customer
experiences...both good and bad. We learn from them, document them, and
continuously discuss ways we can get better...and better...and better.
Perfection is never something we achieve but it's our relentless pursuit of
it that differentiates us from our competition.

Sonex the company and the Sonex Community owe a great debt of gratitude to
those who have so generously given of their own time and money to promote,
support, provide education for, and give rides in Sonex products. This has
directly led to one of the most complete, expertly designed, rigorously
tested, and cost effective product lines for anyone to achieve the dream of
personal flight. In our view of things, for every dollar more the end
product costs the more out of reach the product is to a larger number of
potential customers.

There has been an ongoing discussion about a "Black Sheep Squadron" which we
quite frankly have a lot of trouble understanding. We have as great a sense
of humor as any individuals or company you will find, but the humor in
labeling yourself an outcast to a company and group that welcomes all with
consistent and positive customer support escapes us. We respect the freedom
of all to express themselves in whatever way they see fit in our great free
country but in our opinion the only "Black Sheep" that exists in the Sonex
Community is the one who labels themselves.

Nothing motivates the entire Sonex Team more than reading your success
stories. Thank you to those of you who take the time to share your building
and flying stories with us. It warms our hearts and serves as great
motivation to pursue even greater heights as a Company and Community.

As always, please feel free to contact any member of the Sonex Team at the
numbers or e-mail below with any questions or Comments.

Regards,
