Fun places to fly

Postby Major4567 » Fri Mar 28, 2014 8:36 pm

I am looking for fun places to fly to. Yes, I am familiar with the website. I am located in Columbus, Ohio. Museums, sight seeing, hiking, etc.

Been a long time since I flew there but Put in Bay was a lot of fun or maybe you have already been there. http://www.putinbay.com/airport.htm

Sportys Pilot Shop down at Clermont County airport is fun. I think Beavee Co (BVI) is supposed to have a museum. It's close by but go check out Urbana and the B-17 they're restoring. There's also a little museum at Lancaster (LHQ). It's a pain to get to, but Burke Lakefront is walking distance to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a Korean era US submarine you can go through. There's a nice restaurant at Muncie, In (MIE) as well as Cincy Lunken (LUK).

I'll keep thinking!

Waco Field (1WF) has a nice little museum on it. Home of Waco Biplanes. Nice little Grass strip. You can pull ap and park right at the museum. http://www.wacoairmuseum.org

I don't have a radius. Anywhere and everywhere.

Mike

I have been to sportys and urbana. Want to go to Waco field.

Scott

When the weather gets better, we will go to put in bay. If your wife lets you. Lol.

I welcome all suggestions.

I'm not too far from Put-in Bay. Loved my last two visits. We should plan a Sonex gathering there some time in the summer.

cheers

A gathering at Put in Bay would be cool. I think we should.

Craig

If you ever want to go flying or meet sometime, we can exchange information. Mike and Scott May also be interested.

Put-in-Bay, OH (3W2) Sat Jul 19th

Postby Critson » Sun May 18, 2014 8:52 am

Our EAA chapter 44 based in Brockport NY (7G0) is planning a fly out to Put-in-Bay, OH (3W2) Sat Jul 19th. Some are staying overnight. I am planning on flying to Port Clinton, Ohio (PCW) on the Friday evening. This is home to EAA "Tin Goose" Chapter 1247. They have a museum, restaurant, fuel and hotels within walking distance. This airport is nine miles from Put-in-Bay. I know Mike, Steve and Scott are interested. I am sure we could easily get at least five or six Sonex aircraft there.
