Baffles Baffle me.

Postby Art Tiller » Thu Jul 11, 2024 8:46 am

Recently I removed my AeroVee 2.0 right cylinder head to repair spark plug threads. To get it off I had to work it past the front baffles. For the life of me I could not figure out how the baffles attach to the front of the engine. I do not have the Baffle installation manual. I require enlightenment, direction, or a lambasting. What ever works. Please and thank you.

Art,
There are two screws that hold it to the front baffle on either side. I glue/seal my front baffle to the case with red permatex. I do that anywhere there is a gap that I don't want air going through.

See that huge gap behind number 1 cylinder/head? I filled mine in with some aluminum sheet. Number 1 cht was always quite high. Haven't flow since to see if it works.

Beautiful picture, Bryan. I have always had Cht cooling issues and am very envious of you having solved yours. While you have the cowling off can you post some more pics of how you closed up your engine to get good cooling, showing where you put the 2 gallons of red Rv, baffling, etc. Also, pics and dimensions of all your cowl openings. Is that your oil cooler on top?

Thanks for all you do to help us novices.

Ron, this is the best I can do right now:

Openings are per the manual, with the added oil cooler exits I documented. Yes I have the top oil cooler.
