possible prop?

Postby mccool » Wed Apr 24, 2024 8:54 am

I have an opportunity to get a Sensenich 60/53 for my 3300 sonex for a good price. Sonex recommends the Sensenich 54/62 for the Sonex and 60/53 for the Xenos. Prince recommends the 54/60.
My question is Anyone any experience with a 60" on the sonex? What pitch and how well did it perform?

At some point propeller tip to ground clearance becomes a serious factor.

I run a 60" prop on my Sonex and that's not a problem but the 53" pitch is too fine and would limit your cruise speed. My current prop is a Jabiru 60" ground adjustable type which I have set by trial and error. I think the pitch is about 56" to 57", but I'm probably not measuring the correct chord line so the pitch could be higher than that. I was mainly concerned with making small changes and keeping the two blades the same. I normally land in three point attitude and my worst efforts haven't resulted in any ground strikes.
