In other news, our charging system seems to have died.

Last night Adam went around the pattern 3 times at the end of the day. After the third takeoff he cruised around the area with a landing before the end of evening civil twilight.

Later that evening I reset my night currency. I have a big XC coming up in a couple weeks and want to make sure I'm night proficient. Next night flight I'll leave the pattern and go somewhere close.

Hi Bryan

Saw some post earlier that you have the BandC VR installed. Me too, have t actually tried it yet. But I found a note in the Technical Manual that says you may have to adjust the voltage upwards for lithium batteries, with simple instructions on how to accomplish this. Try it out and report back…enquiring minds want to know :)

Gordon,
I bought the replacement VR from Sonex. If it's a B&C it's not marked and there were no directions, plus I didn't see any adjustment means.

Do you have a link for the B&C?

Found it:
https://bandc.com/product/avc1-advanced ... lation-kit

The website says not for Jabiru. I've sent an inquiry about the Aerovee.

Oh. Sorry. Hate to blame old age, too many other ramifications…

Our Corvairs use a John Deere tractor permanent magnet generator. BandC gives some explanation about why the, to me similar, Jabiru generator is not compatible. I saw also one of the other VW conversions as not compatible, but I think the aero vee generator may be essentially the same as what we have. Interested to hear what they say.

The BandC is a nice unit and appears to be very robust. Also the people are really great to work with and very helpful.

Best, Gordon
