Protectant for polished aluminum

Hi all,

Checking again after a decade or so to see if anyone has had any success using any sort of protectant after polishing, ie to prolong the time between polishing. No doubt there are lots of products that make great claims, like Sharkhide, but does anything really work?

I've been using oil on the belly. I'll let you know how it works out after some more time.

If your plane is in a closed hangar, cover it with a soft cloth. Dust holds moisture that results in corrosion.

Me too! But in my case, its protecting the paint.

Some of my airport buddies are REALLY broke up about it and say how bad it is. I just smile and say its a VW thing and then remind them to go look under a radial powered airplane :)

For as much mess as there is, I only have to add a half quart every 10 hours. As long as it's dripping I know there is still oil in there.

I think I'm a bit less than that Bryan. The belly protectant bugged me a little early on but I'm over it :) Just Fly!

I hear the polished guys say that the key is to do it regular. If you let it go, it takes a lot more work. Outside, every year. Inside, every other year.
