The Revmaster 2300 is NOT as you say, comparable to the Aerovee; The R2300 is FAR superior in design and MUCH more powerful. The Aerovee is anemic compared to the R2300 because the R2300 puts out an honest 80 HP at low cruise RPM and the Aerovee must turn 3400-3500 to put out 80 HP ( and I doubt even those numbers). I have lots of hours flying both and there is NO comparison. The Aerovee is anemic.

I've seen the dyno and talked with Jeremy. I believe the numbers.

Bear, obviously there is a reason I sold the aerovee that was in this airframe and replaced it with a Revmaster. By 'comparable' I was not referring to the performance numbers but rather that they are both VW varions and that the EGT setup would likely be similar. That's all.

There is an excellent article in the January 2023 AOPA Pilot magazine (page 93), about EGT, CHT and leaning. Engine manufacturers' max temperatures vary, but the chemistry and math behind combustion are the same no matter what engine you are running.
