Pitot Static installation

Postby dbdevkc » Fri Oct 28, 2022 9:38 pm

The plans show custom fabrication of a pitot static probe, but the kit came with a Wicks pitot static probe. I looks like I can skip most of the installation stuff, but do I still need some sort of mounting plate or can I just mount the Wicks probe base directly to the wing skin using nut plates riveted to the skin (if I make the hole in the wing small enough)?

I installed it just as you describe and it seems to be holding up fine.

In the Waiex-B plans its actually mounted to the inspection plate so i dont see the wing skin being a big issue, I am using a mounting bracket since i am mounting a garmin unit. If you need more details send me a PM and i can take a look at the plans page again to confirm.
