shipping

Postby jack schurr » Sat Jan 04, 2014 2:52 pm

Hello to the group:
I have found a buyer for my engine mount, cowling and spinner. Does anyone have pictures of the way that these parts were shipped from Sonex, or any suggestions as to how to pack them? I will be shipping from NY to TX, and would like to send them as efficiently and inexpensively as possible. Also, if anyone has ideas for the best shipping method.
Thank you in advance for any help,

Jack:

These parts were all inside of a much larger box that also included the tires and wheel pants, welded parts and many others.

The factory used packing paper to separate and isolate the parts within the boxes.

Jack

I know this is not much help. Here is a photo from the sonex website of a quickbuild kit. The boxes in the foreground are the same as they came in my 2005 kit

My cowl and mount that came in November 2013 were packed the same way, in separate boxes (containing many other parts in the voids), stuffed with a LOT of kraft paper.

Hi Jack,

I just received a universal cowl and Jab 2200 motor mount in November from Sonex. I already had the complete Waiex kit but had to order these two specific parts for the engine install I'm working on.

Sonex just packaged my mount and cowling halves into one big box with A LOT of packing paper. They had to ship it to me via Conway Freight and it cost right at $250 from Oshkosh to Southern Indiana for a 50lb box. I could have saved about $50 for a non-residential delivery, but didn't have a business I could send it during the delivery time-frame.

Good luck and hope all these replies help!
