Vertical panel mods

Postby fastj22 » Sat Jan 11, 2014 9:54 pm

I never liked the slanted panel Sonex plans dictate. Too much glare on my EFIS. I have taken my down time to modify it to bring it a bit more vertical and reduce glare.
Its three pieces that are riveted to the stock location and tilt the panel forward. I'll use riv-nuts to secure the panel to the new mounts. The geometry of the flare gives the glare shield a lot of rigidity.

I have one of these for my Waiex:

Will I have trouble with glare or is that a fancier MFD problem?

The glare makes a color LCD screen unreadable, and an iPad too if the sun is coming from behind you. You have to use you hand to shade it. I hope the increased angle will improve readability.
The new panel is the same dimension as the original, just tilted 2 inches forward.
