Aerobatic CG Envelope?

Postby Art Tiller » Wed Jun 29, 2022 5:25 pm

Hi All,
I have been looking at a Sonex A POH. In the limitations section it says maximum aerobatic weight is 950 lbs. Yet, when I go to the Weight and balance section the Wt / CG envelope graph shows the max aerobatic weight as 850 lbs. I must be missing something here.

From the Sonex website:

Sonex Aircraft already are exceptional aerobatic machines. With full aerobatic category G-loading of +6 and -3 G’s at 950 lbs max aerobatic gross weight (1050 lbs for the Xenos Motorglider) and with an above-average load factor margin built-in, Sonex Aircraft represent some of the most structurally-sound aircraft available in the kit aircraft market today.

Image Thank you for the reply Dale. Can anybody explain why the Aerobatic CG envelope tops out at 850 lbs?

Yah know....... Darn..... I always read the published numbers.

I wonder if it is a mistake? Would have to ask the factory.

I messed up the entries on the weight and balance on my first 2 flight manuals so I ordered a third. All three have 950 in both places
