Hi Graeme

Is it going to be a problem if you miss the 20 detent and the flaps instantly retract fully during your go-around? Or is the geometry such that this won’t happen?

Umm - I plant it firmly in the detent before reaching for the throttle. Geometry partly helps but making sure it is in the detent is just part of the drill.

In a go around, other than practice type, your attention is likely diverted making mistakes more likely. Electric flaps actuators eliminate that problem, and for at least some of us, they allow keeping the shoulder belts fully tight and ready for whatever.
