Floor mats

Postby pfhoeycfi » Sat Feb 05, 2022 5:07 pm

I would like to some type of fire resistant mat up front on the floor under my feet...wondering if anyone has found something suitable. Just looking to protect the floor from getting beat up.

Not very pretty, but I use 1" (probably only 3/4) high density foil backed foam insulation board. Wears better than you might think and is very light. Originally, I put it down as a noise barrier. Waiting for the Db meter to show up to test that function.
When it starts to get ugly......turn it over. I'm getting about 25hrs a side. Looks like a 4X8 sheet is going to outlast me.

I have carpet in my OneX, not fire retardant, however. I’m living on the edge!

It’s greatest benefit to me is that it keeps my heels from sliding when I use the rudder pedals.

I use a combination of 2 layers of foil backed insulation board, topped with a fire rated marine carpet. All 3 layers glued together for quick removal/clean.

Reason - I am a bit of a "short arse" with in proportion feet - the two layers of insulation get my feet into a better position, relative to the pedals - the carpet is just for improved wear & aesthetics
