Chicagoland Sonex Builders Brunch

Postby Sonex1517 » Sat Dec 21, 2013 11:48 am

Hi everyone

So it is time to resurrect the idea of a local Sonex builders brunch. In the past we have tried Clow and Hinckley with mixed results.

I was thinking this time we could try Pilot Pete's at the Schaumburg airport, or somewhere else convenient for other participants. (Bryan - this is much closer for you!)

Dates I was looking at are Saturday December 28th, Sunday December 29th or Saturday January 4th.

Looking for ideas and if there is interest in this or not - please post a reply here or contact me directly.

If you know of others interested please extend this invitation to them also.

thanks blue skies and happy holidays

Looking forward to seeing everyone again, and hopefully some new Sonex folks. Any of the days mentioned work for me. Dont think Pilot Petes work as they are not open til 11 am. We'll need some more ideas for location. Would like to visit some more sonex projects in process if anyone is interested in visitors.

Robbie Culver is making awesome progress and has been kind enough to let me visit and help a little, I would really enjoy seeing other projects. I also would like to see other owners of flying Sonex type stuff visit.

Chicagoland Sonex Builders Brunch

Saturday January 4th is best - we will meet for lunch at Pilot Pete's at the Schaumburg IL airport at 12 noon.

For those who have not been there it is a high end burger joint with a varied menu - awesome aviation ambiance. It can be a little weird to find so get directions if you drive.

If you are flying in, keep in mind that the O'Hare Class Bravo is immediately overhead and the surface area for ORD starts just to the east of the airport. It is a fun place to fly in to.

blue skies

Chicagoland Sonex Builders Brunch

Total of 9 people today at lunch - a special thank you to Larry Overstreet for making the trek from Milwaukee to visit and talk with us.

Local builder events are a great way to meet new friends, exchange ideas and techniques, and hear how others share your joys and frustrations!

Thanks to all who came to lunch today, it was great to see everyone. It helps to get through a rough winter to see friends and make new ones. Thanks Robbie, good choice on restaurants . Looking forward to the next time we can all catch up, hope its in better weather.

Keep on building guys. As much fun as they are to build, flying them is even better.

Sorry I missed the gathering guys. I had to travel for work.

I'm getting ready to mate my wing spars and was hoping to get some pointers from the group.

Robbie - thanks for getting the group together.
