"Sonex Event" at KIJD - 7th October 2021

Anyone heard anything about this?

I had a friend at the FAA calling to make sure it was not me - it wasn't - but they were awaiting details.

I just saw this pop up on Kathryn's Report and my first thought was "I hope it wasn't Graeme!" but then I saw it wasn't your N-number. hope it's not too bad a prang for the pilot.

It wasn’t me but I know the pilot and was at the airport yesterday to help him move the plane. The plane hit a taxiway marker while trying to taxi off after landing during his first flight. The pilot is fine with no injuries other than his pride. The plane is going to need some work since the front landing gear folded under when hitting the marker but it is repairable.

Confusing in that yesterday, October 8, Sonex LLC had already posted a couple of photos of this aircraft and noted that it had completed a "first flight" on October 7 after a 16 year build time. Of course, no mention of the landing incident. Had some other pilot made the actual first flight of the aircraft before the builder took it up for his first flight? Also, interesting to note that the aircraft has tricycle gear...........some explaining to do. I feel for the pilot/builder. Had to be a disappointing end to the day.
