Personally I find the Gates products to be high quality and cost effective.

Use fuel injection style clamps for even clamping pressure and no risk of "pinching".

Remember that a poorly matched hose to spigot, can not be reliably "fixed" by clamping pressure. A well matched hose to spigot should seal without the hose clamp - the clamp providing security rather than sealing.

Using high cost automotive performance hose may look great, provide bragging rights but is unlikely to do any more than empty your wallet quicker.
