Graeme, what is the function of the small air intake on the top left of your cowl?

Sorry Lou - just saw this.

There is a formed metal tube under it and it close fits to and blasts outside air down over the heat sink fins on the voltage regulator.

i just failed the third voltage reg. The first, the Sonex reg., lasted 285 hours. The second, a less expensive tractor reg. ( don''t remember the number) lasted 45 hours. I have a Sonex reg. on order and I think it's time to add some cooling to the coil/reg. area of the fire wall.
