I am flying a Waiex B turbo now with an electric flap actuator which works great and I like it, but my first Sonex was a 3300 powered legacy Waiex. I also needed Popeye strength to pull the flap lever to the last position.

I struggled with it for a few months. Finally, I discovered that the flap problem was not a flap problem...it was a speed control problem, pilot induced. All I needed to do was to fly the plane as the designer intended. Do not even put your hand on the flap lever in an attempt to pull full flaps until the airspeed is just under 70 mph! 73, a struggle, 72, a struggle, 71, a struggle, 70, maybe, 69.....like butter, 65, melted butter, and no pilot induced porpoising from sawing at the control stick.

Simple is good and every good landing is a result of controlling your airspeed from the downwind leg to right in front of your hangar. Be ahead of the airplane and the flap problem disappears.

Hey Billy

How about a little video tour of the mechanism if you don’t mind sharing :)

Thanks, Gordon

Well after 4 months of high speed taxing I went for it today. You might remember my first flight ended up scaring the crap out of me. After not being able to find anyone to get me any flight training I’ve bin high speed taxing since and watching every video I could find on the inter web. Today I went for it

Awesome Billy!!

You ARE the man.

Just remember that, at least for a while, treat each flight like the first flight. You're going to have a blast with Max.
