Cost of painting?

Postby Chris9183 » Wed Nov 13, 2013 12:54 pm

Just curious about what most of your total costs of a paintjob were. I don't plan on any elaborate paint schemes, if at all. Just wondering what the cost of a coat of solid color paintjob would be, like solid white for instance.

Once again you've given me great insight, this is perfect. Thanks Dale.

I've decided 20 lbs extra isn't a big issue, and even with me/wife/luggage, we'll still be around 30lbs under the gross weight for the 120hp Corvair. I want my plane to be solid white. With a solid color, the painting process should be even easier.

I got a bid from a local professional aircraft painter that came in right around $6000. Two tone.

I had a magnificent job done by an employee of the local helicopter maintenance outfit...He did it on weekends, so it took a couple of months. Including Alodining it cost $5500 (Australian) and was worth every cent...I reason that if I need to sell her in future, a professional paint job will make the process much easier.
