F11 countersinking the verticals (tunnel)

Postby SP1 » Fri Jan 29, 2021 1:58 pm

I’m getting ready to countersink the verticals that have already been integrated into the front side fuselage. The spar tunnel is pretty tight and I can’t get the countersinking tool into the right spot, even with a low profile right angle drill. How did others do it? Thanks

Hi SPI. I noticed that the rear vertical angle appears to be have been riveted in place already? Normally that doesn't happen with the A model, till after wing rigging is done.

I would first remove the rear angle by drilling out the rivets, then see if there is enough room to countersink the front angles. If there is still not enough space to countersink, remove the front angle also and do both of them on the bench.
