Hello All. I'm in the process of installing an MGL EFIS, RDAC XF, SP6 and SP7 in my Waiex (A). I thought that I read in one of the posts (a while back) about where to install/not to install some of these instruments (I believe that one builder installed one of the instruments under the seat). Does anyone recall reading these posts, I can't seem to find it. Thanks!

The SP-6 magnetometer should NOT go under the seat. It needs to be as far from ferrous metal as possible. Mine is mounted on one of the horizontal bulkheads behind the pilot, and mounted with brass screws.

The AHRS should so as close to the center of gravity as possible, so under the seat is a good location.

My RDAC is on the engine-side of the firewall, upper left corner if you're sitting in the airplane.

I just installed an SP-6 and SP-7 in my Onex. I put them on a horizontal bulkhead behind the luggage area. I mounted them with velcro. The MGL website ways to provide some vibration absorption for the AHRS and I choose the velcro for that. Both are working fine. One of the reasons I mounted them side by side was ease of wiring.

I urge you to use the “Search” feature. This has been discussed a few times, including just a couple of weeks ago where pictures and information were shared that I think you’ll find very helpful!

I put the SP6 and SP7 under the left seat, positioned midway between the seatbelt bracket and the aileron pushrod. I used a hiking compass to choose the location, Now at full aft stick it does move the compass about 10 deg. At normal cruise stick position has no affect and matches the magnetic compass on the dash. I also use the MGL autopilot in 2 axis and it works fine in heading mode.
I dont have a photo of the modules mounted but here is the top hat bracket. For vibration isolation it has high density foam rubber sandwiched between the floor and the bracket. Bracket is mounted with solid aluminium rivets.
