Finally

Postby Area 51% » Mon Oct 12, 2020 1:41 pm

After several aborted first-flight attempts (Aeroinjector related), "Chett" took to the wild blue this morning @ 9:15AM. I tried to get "him" to go it alone, but "he" insisted I ride along.

Calm winds, coolish temps, and a 5000ft runway, made the first flight as benign as it could possibly be. Not to say it didn't have it's share of possible outcomes. I was surprised by all axis of control. I expected the roll to be the most sensitive. I WAS WRONG! That would be pitch that holds the record for sensitivity, closely followed by yaw.

Like many others, I have a heavy left wing that will need some attention. Did I mention the engine quit on roll-out? Restarted immediately, but it was certainly nice to have an extra 3500ft of pavement available as a go-around wouldn't have been in the cards. I suspect the Gremlins were feasting on "gassy" foods last night, and this was just a case of the "Burps". Nothing gets your attention quite like a quiet motor.

There's an oil leak that needs to be addressed. It's origin is still a mystery.

The wife said she's never seen me more nervous. I guess she missed the wedding.

.5 Hours in case you were wondering. The first .1 and the last .1 were, of course, the most exciting.

Gotta go....Got s#*t to do here @Area 51%

Through the years building, many have asked "is the airplane done yet?" The answer started out as "not yet". As time drew on, the answer became slurred into "notchet", so we figured when the project actually became a full-blown aircraft, we would drop the "not". Added the extra "t" for character and ended up with Chett.
