Prince P-tip Carbon Fiber Propeller with AeroVee

Hello,
I am in the process of building a new Aerovee to replace the current one in my Sonex, and I was considering a prop replacement as well. The Prince P-tip intrigues me, is anyone running the carbon fiber version of that? Any noticeable results or opinions on the combo? Thanks.

Are you building a turbo or normally aspirated engine? Although not finished yet, I have tested a few props this year on my Turbo Waiex B including 2 different pitch models of the P-tip.

I have one new in box for my no turbo aerovee. I’ll give you some numbers after I finish installing my fuel injection system. The general consensus is that is a good choice. I’ll read the model number off it when I get back to the hanger.

I ran the prince P-tip carbon covered prop on my normally aspirated AeroVee and thought it lived up to the advertising. I then upgraded to the turbo but went with the Sensenich cruise prop. The turbo was new and I didn't want to experiment trying to find the right pitch and diameter, so I went with the factory pick. I have now changed to a Jabiru and went back to the Prince P-tip. The performance is quite good. I think both props will do the job and will have similar performance though I think the Prince is a little better in climb. What it comes down to is the company it's self. When I had the first engine with a Prince prop I had a hinge pin from the cowl work out and go through the prop. It left the plane through the prop on final approach, leaving some dings and scratches in the prop. I sent an email to Prince asking if I could repair the damage or if I needed to send the prop in for service. Within 15 min of sending the email Lonnie Price called and wanted to ask about the extent of the damage. We discussed for a few min. and he told me how to do the repair and how to re-balance the prop. Performance being equal, Prince Aircraft is where I will spend my money.

P Tip - Order early - wait long was my experience. 8 months.

But I like the prop. Nothing to compare it to on a Sonex though.

Applied tape purchased from Aircraft Spruce. Follow the directions. Not too hard.
