Definitely scraping.
One more word of caution.AVOID scraping at the edges of a surface.It's to easy to break through on the edge.Same goes for your polish wheel do your edges gingerly(polishing the edges by hand is safest).It's also very quick and easy to polish right trough at the edge of any surface.If I could ever figure out to use my Ipad to make a video I would post it to show how easy it is once you get the hang of it.

I've been using the rolled paint method that Dale used and I'm very happy with it. I am doing a mix of aboutn 3/4 polished aluminum and 1/4 paint...enough to hopefully make the plane a little more visible. The paint is simple to apply and so far has added very little weight. Also, I've had no problem going through the typical paint cutting process to get a mirror finish.

If you know (or know someone) who knows how to spray paint, you'll probably get a better finish...but for a simple DIY in your garage, this really can't be beat.

I had stumbled across Dale’s method and am encouraged – over half a decade ago I used a single-part urethane (or something expensive and “plastic”) for a sailboat that has been embarrassingly neglected in the interim. The (then eleven year old) grandson and I were rank amateurs, but were as careful as we knew how, and simply rolled it on according to instructions out of doors on a calm day -- and were pleased. It still passes the ten-foot test for gloss, but after nearly seven years in the weather (including two hurricanes and one major tropical storm) it is now due for some touch-ups before next season, so I was pleased to see something like this being successfully used by conscientious homebuilders…
