FWF Budget est

So, I’m doing some financial planning/estimating. I currently plan to build with a ULPower 350is as the engine. Beyond a prop and spinner, I currently have no idea what else to budget for FWF. ANy help here? If you did a Jabiru or Rotax, I’d be curious how you budgeted as well.

I have a Jabiru 3300 so here’s my thoughts.

Electric Facet fuel pump
Battery or possibly batteries for you
Oil hoses
Fuel hoses
Firesleeve (not cheap!)
Oil cooler
Various AN fittings for the hoses
Adel clamps
Baffle material if it isn’t supplied
Aircraft grade wire
Wire crimp connectors
Crimping tool if you don’t have one
Spinner
Prop
Cowling if you don’t have one that fits UL
Cowling fasteners - lots of choices from cheap and simple to expensive and mildly complex

That’s just off the top of my head but gives you an idea

Budget UL Power engine....?

John....there was a yellow Onex N326X at Oshkosh 2016 that had a UL Power 350iS 130 hp.

The owner is Carl Eldridge, El Campo, Texas. Maybe you can track him down and get some valuable info on what's involved with installing it in a Sonex/Onex.
He is getting some great performance numbers.....(170 mph cruise).

No idea. I try not to think of how I have spent on my aluminum mistress.....

20,000.00 on 3.3 L corvair for everything fwf. (16000.00 just engine).
Side note... 6000.00 to scratch build all the rest of plane.

For what it’s worth, I can give you a rough guess on my Jabiru 3300 FWF swap I completed several months ago. This doesn’t include anything from the firewall aft, or the sale of any old parts.

Used Jabiru 3300 engine: $8,000
Overhaul of engine: $10,000
Engine Mount: $1600
Propeller: $1500
AeroInjector: $300
Misc. hardware: $500

While I got these parts with the above purchases, you’d have to get these as well:

Oil cooler: $500
Cowling: $300

Those are the big items. I haven’t counted prices on the small items such as sensors, baffling, etc.

I upgraded to a Jabiru 3300 Generation 4. new engine was $18900. with new cowl, Aeroinjector, egt and cht probes, oil cooler, cooling baffles, prop, engine mount and misc other parts I came in around $25000 Firewall forward. This was a refit from Aerovee so I retained the Battery, mixture cable and fuel supply parts, which would have to be added to a new installation.

I am Building an Onex with a UL Power 260IS. I have spend $1000 for a motor mount, and around $800 for the rest of the FWK items such as oil cooler, brackets, fuel lines, capacitor, air pressure sensor, and others items. I hope this helps.
