Good Morning from Texas

Good Morning from Texas

Postby Mel » Sun Feb 16, 2020 9:47 am

Just joining you Guys. My Wife, Ann, and I have built 8 airplanes including a Moni Motor-glider (modified with conventional landing gear), 2 RV-6s and a scratch built biplane. I've been an EAA Tech Counselor and Flight Advisor since 1984, and a DAR since 1999. My current plans include building a Waiex-B with Jabiru 3300.
Retired from Texas Instruments after 41 years, we built our retirement home and established Short Stop Airport (8TA5) here in Farmersville. Hopefully I can help out with some questions and learn from your experiences.

Ok. Not nearly ready, but you’ll look good in Ny in that hat.

Hi Mel,

Great to see you're joining the Sonex group! You might remember performing two airworthiness inspections for me in the past. Hope to have the Onex ready for inspection shortly. I'll be in touch.

Welcome Aboard,

Wes

Welcome to the group Mel!

Such a wealth of information and experience here, and it looks like you'll be bringing it up a few notches. Can't wait to see your project.

Cheers!

It's probably just a formality, but a DAR in the Chicago FSDO district told me he could not do my inspection without the FAA and Springfield FSDO approval.

That's true, but I've never had a problem getting local approval.
