Seat pan?

Anyone know an easy way to replace the piano hing pin on seat pan after a condition inspection.
This is the hardest thing I have to do on a legacy!

Are you looking to replace only the pin? Do you have the plans pages for the aircraft?

If so order some piano hinge from spruce.

Do you mean how to put the seat pan back on? I start with the hinge under your butt. One side and then the other. Then I do the top hinges. Finally I do the front ones under your knees. Those last ones are the longest for me, but that might be a center controls thing.

That's how I do it, too. And I have the dual controls.

I have dual controls but a center mounted throttle, mixture, flap, and brake.

I give mine a good clean by wiping the length of the pin(s) with a rag wetted with a little WD-40. Get all the gray grime off them. Then a second wipe with WD-40 just before sliding them in. Smooth as silk compared to battling them in when grimy. Same for the cowl pins.

Does the residual oil attract and hold dirt? Does the residual oil dry and "gum" making removal harder. I don't think so and the ease compared to the fight - more inclined to open up to inspect and keep the "avionics bay" clean and the control linkages lubed.

I use a few drops of motor oil wiped on each pin. They slide right in...like butter.
