Onex Upholstery

Postby Scott Todd » Tue Sep 10, 2019 11:10 pm

I am looking for some photos and feedback on Onex Upholstery. I'm trying to decide if I want to make it myself, get custom made, or just order it from Sonex. They only have one photo on the website. I'm curious about how they fit and cushioning.

Hi Scott,

I used the Sonex upholstery in my Xenos (sold) and now my OneX. The fit and finish is excellent. The cushions are approx. 1-1/4" thick and I find them to be very comfortable. In my Xenos I sat directly on the cushion and it felt fine. In my OneX I use a 3 inch booster cushion to get a better view over the panel. Very feneficial for landing! I'm about 6 feet tall.

Here are a couple of pictures. I also use the Sonex baggage compartment sling and it's excellent. I tried to take a picture of it but you don't see too much when viewed through the turtle deck opening.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for pointing out the photos aren't being displayed. I moved the pictures to Flickr, so let's see if this works.

I meet two new OneX builders at the airport today and they both were very impressed with fit and finish of the luggage sling.

How does it secure?

The seat cushions come with Velcro strips. The half that sticks to the cushions stay adhered as is. I popped rivets into the half that is stuck to the seat pan. Hasn't some loose or moved in 5 years.

I secured the baggage sling using left over hinges and hinge pins. I also stiffened the bottom of the sling using some left over square tubing (~1/2 inch) riveted to the bottom (it's just corrugated plastic).
