On the advice from several people I used Loctite 618 and hylomar when sealing the case. Hylomar is only for very well fitted surfaces so I'm pretty sure I used 518 on the cylinder base, studs, etc. I still have some leaks, but not at the cylinders...

UPDATE: Started motor up with no leaks! Woo Hoo!! Been fighting this battle for a long time. Kieth had the right idea. Previous owner had different set up than the Aerovee manual. Rubber grommet with a 45 degree bend, with a smaller tube (reducer) to fit inside the grommet, then another hose to that. The smaller tube had collapsed to the size of about a no. 2 pencil. Without removing the smaller tube you couldn't see it. Pete, double check your vent.
