My wife and I will love to host a luncheon at our airport, C56. We’re just South of Chicago and outside the Mode C veil for O’hare. Bult Field had a 5001’ x 75’ concrete runway, a great FBO space and even a very small but very interesting military museum. We would set up some catering on site so no worries about traveling to a restaurant. Let me know if there is interest and we’ll check with the airport staff.

Pick a date Russ! Let’s give it a try!

We have family ties to Sanger - so we call your airport Sanger-Bult.

I would suggest I69 with both Sporty’s Pilot shop (free hot dogs on Saturday’s) and the Tri State Warbirds Museum on site. But it’s inside the Mode C veil.

Anywhere close to I19 is good for me. Columbus IN BAK restaurant gets good reviews.

By the way, nice to see everyone at the OSH BBQ, I was the guy on the right at the table with Tom Jones taking your attendance money.

Cheers

Hi Rick,

Are you based at I19? Have you met Mark Waldron yet? He’s got the pretty polished Sonex tri gear there. I’m sure he’d be glad to know there’s another Sonex on the field!

Mike, Mark is one row over from me @I19. He’s was wrestling with the engine last time I saw him.

Cheers

Just got the go ahead from airport management today. We can do Saturday August 31st, Labor Day Weekend or Saturday September 28th. Anyone interested please chime in so we can finalize it and maybe get a feel for headcount.

You can check out C56 at bultfield.com. We’ll set up lunch at the FBO, maybe pizza and salad. Small charge to cover expenses. Any one flying in gets the proverbial free lunch. Figure a 10:00 to whenever time frame so we can all talk about our favorite airframe.

We’re really hoping to be able to do this. Sonex pilots, owners and builders are the best people to hang out with in aviation, IMHO.

I’m in and can possibly get another local Sonex or two with us.
