Video Tour of my Sonex

Hi, everyone!

I've been working on a video tour of my Sonex (built from plans) for several months and finally got it posted on YouTube. I focused on custom modifications and some lessons learned, to maybe help other builders who want some additional food for thought. It's a bit long at 1 hr and 25 minutes.

One question...elevator trim tab B nut...what keeps the nut assembly from wobbling in the hole? I viewed the part in ACS and there are no threads on the B nut shaft which runs through the trim tab hole. It appears you would have to use washers and only a cotter pin to keep it snug, but still allow it to swivel as the trim tab moves.

Well done on the video Mike! I love it!

I think this is a great idea for those with flying airplanes; virtual videos show details of airplanes which can be a huge benefit for builders. If I ever have the time to do it, I may try to follow your example and create a virtual video of my Waiex as well.

You're right. It's been there so long I forgot some of the details myself. The two primary advantages for me are how much easier it is to adjust the trim, and the fact that there is no chance of that little Z popping out. I never liked that Z. Made me nervous how poorly it's secured.

Bottle Holder. I retrofitted a polycarbonate one for bicycles. With no access to the spar box without taking the wings off - I used "60lb" double sided heavy duty Scotch Tape. It has a foam core and conforms between the bottle holder and the flat sheet of the spar box.

Let it set for two days. Survived an afternoon of hamfisted acro this afternoon with a bottle of water in it.
