Had to share....NYC Hudson River VFR corridor ride

Aviation is incredible. My friend Kirk took me on the VFR Hudson River run by Manhattan last Wednesday in his Cessna Cardinal RG. Pictures do no justice and words cannot describe it. One more item off the bucket list!

Very nice! As a former Connecticut resident, I've flown the corridor a couple times in the daylight. Never did it at night though.

We actually started the flight at Sikorsky Memorial airport.

Sikorsky Memorial (or Bridgeport) is where my dad's flying club was based. Flew out of there a bunch as a little kid. Just about 6NM NNE of there is Sikorsky Aircraft where I used to work. My former home of 39 years is within about 10NM NNW of there.

In 2000, it was the 1st summer of owning my own airplane, my RV6 which I had finished that January. So I was eager to explore the world, well, east coast anyway. Mary & I flew up from FL visiting friends and made it to Cape Cod before turning around. The flight from Martha's Vineyard toward home the controller asked me if I wanted to stay at my same altitude down the Hudson. I was at about 2000' at the time. So, yes, and it was unbelievable. I asked Mary to take pictures as we went by central park, WTC, Statue of Liberty, etc. But she wasn't really comfortable yet flying in a small (or large) plane yet so she snapped a picture but there was a delay in the old digital camera we had at the time. I ended up with lots of pictures of the RV instrument panel and wings. But the memories are like it was yesterday. Flying past the tops of the WTC seemed like I could almost see the whites of the tourists eyes. Just amazing.
