So I’m riveting the left hand spar and the countersunk rivets are on the rear side of the spar. My question is when I get to the outboard end, which way do the round head rivets go in? It seems to me they should go in from the forward side through the thinner material first. Thanx for any help. Billy

Yes, especially the holes that line up with the spar. Aft spar and skin holes set the location of the aft skin. Aft skin sets location of pilot holes in the spar. Those holes then locate the forward skins. And, of course, you look through the holes to see the blue lines on your rib flange before you drill.

The plans on SNX-W18 forward wing skin show no line of holes for spar attachment area.

I saw that but I’m plans building and so I layout all my holes. The plans show no line of holes for where the skin meets the rear skins. I could transfer the line of holes shown on the rear skins but how far back from edge is what I would need to know. Thanx

Hi Billy, I plans built my wings many years ago. I looked at the plans and think this is what I did.

Put all the holes in the aft wing skin 1/4" from the edge as plans show. Place it on the spar and transfer
the holes to the spar. Put a line 1/4" from the trailing edge of the forward wing skin. Side it under the aft
skin so the line is visible thru all the pilot holes on the aft skin. Drill and cleco all the holes. Pull out the
forward skin, debur then put it on top of the aft skin and rivet.

I hope that's what you were asking.

Don't know why there would be any difference between the Waiex and Sonex wing, but the hole edge distance on my leading edges is 3/8in. as well as the aft skin at the spar. The trailing edge of the aft skin is, however, 1/4in.
