You wouldn't want to cheat yourself of the experience of measuring the raw extrusion 3 times and still cutting it incorrectly as some were known to do.

In any event, you plans builders are to be congratulated and appreciated. There seems to be less and less of you all the time.

Art funny you should say that. I looked for the raw extrusions but couldn’t find a source. Billy

Those are custom Sonex extrusions, made for Sonex only. You won't find them elsewhere.

Tim Wrede is currently (the last I knew) in possession of my bucking bar. If you need one, you might check with him to see if he's through with it. I thought I hear on a pod-cast he had his wings complete.

Billy,

Bryan is correct. The spar cap extrusions can only be purchased from Sonex and their general rule was that only one set of spar caps would sold per set of plans. This rule kept builders from reusing one set of plans thus requiring a builder to buy a set of plans in order to build the airplane. However, I do recall reading about at least one "cheap" builder who redesigned the wing without the "special" extrusions in order to be able to cheat Sonex out of their plan fee. Too many frugal builders like this would have put Sonex out of business in the early days.

So what I was suggesting is to buy the raw uncut version of the spar caps from Sonex, if they'll still sell them that way. Maybe they'd be less expensive and then you'll get to enjoy the full scratch built building experience, having to cut them yourself.

Thanx. I have a bucking bar but only two dozen or so black clecos. If you want to let me barrow them I’ll send money for shipping. Thanx Billy

I have pilot drilled all the angle fittings for the spars. Now ready to pilot drill the spar caps. My question is when pilot drilling is done in spar caps , do i attach all the angle fittings with 3/32 inch clecos and drill to final size? Or do you up drill angles pieces separately from the already pilot drilled angles? Thanx Billy

Billy, Have all parts with silver clecoes all together and spar straight and level then updrill. Cleco to final size as you progress. Clamps are needed for the thicker area near the root. The clecoes don't have the reach or the strength.
