B-Model Fuel Tank

Postby Spaceman » Sun Oct 14, 2018 10:37 am

Has anyone installed their fuel tank yet and had the little tank stop angle at the rear actually end up in the right place relative to the pilot holes in the glare shield? I pulled my tank out of storage last night and did a quick test fit, and it didn't look like it would go far enough forward for that angle to fit the way the plans show it (with the flange forward). If I flip it around and have the flange aft of the holes in the glare shield, it looks like that would actually line up about right. Has anyone else run into the same thing?

The tank straps line up with the little channels in the bottom of the tank, and I think there's still plenty of room behind the panel so maybe I'll just go with what I have.

Also, how have you guys routed the fuel vent line? Is it supposed to go through the firewall, or remain aft of the firewall and exit out the floor?

Thanks!

The A model has it go forward of the firewall. Interesting thought to run it inside away from the fire zone. One plus of running it forward is you can connect a burp tube to it if you so desire.

I guess it would make sense to have the vent line aft of the firewall, and after looking at the plans again that's how it looks like they did it. I'll attach a couple pictures. If it's aft of the firewall, then it would have to go around the outside/top of the glare shield since there isn't room at the sides of the tank. So then to get to the floor i'd have to drill a hole through the upper longeron I suppose. That might be the simplest way to do it!
