Depends on your legs, and seat option. Made mine just deep enough to house standard circuit breakers, 1-5/8 or 1-3/4" if memory is correct.

Thanx Dave. Is your seat lowered?

Hi Billy,

I'm not Dave but ... I lowered the seat in my Sonex. Then I sat in it and *did not* like it. Changed back to standard seat. If you lower the seat your knees end up higher I think. That means less sub panel space.

YMMV.

I agree Wes. I’m 5’11 and did not lower the seat. So I think 1 1/2” lower panel is it.

Bill,

Mine does not have the lowered seat, but my legs are short. (Not so short that knuckles drag on ground) Lowered seat puts one's butt further back and you end up sitting straighter, but I am long in the waist and wanted a more reclining position. Also have custom contoured seat back upholstery that puts butt further forward, and with Clarity Aloft's head set, I just clear the canopy. For me, the notched seat back support of the B model looks like an improvement that could be incorporated into the A series if needed.

Here's a picture of cable diff. brakes. At least this is one way to do it.
