Announce and discuss upcoming fly-ins

AirVenture 2018

Postby Gripdana » Tue Mar 27, 2018 6:22 pm

Anyone planning on going to KOSH this year from the western states? I finally made the commitment to go and have purchased the tickets. I plan to be there Sunday for the Homecoming then depart for home Thursday morning.

Hi Dana,

I will be attending, flying my Waiex from KLHM to OSH via the "southern route" from CA through AZ and NM and then direct OSH.
Got my dorm room reserved from Saturday to the following Sunday.
Bought my tickets for the entire week of the show.
It will be my first time at Osh, looking forward to it.
No interest in attending the "Homecoming".

See you there,

I always plan on making it, weather and family responsibilities permitting! I've flown the Waiex up 5 of the last 6 years, and I'm hoping to fly it up again this year as well! In general, when flying up I always like trying to arrive either the Saturday or early Sunday morning before the show just to beat some of the air traffic; most of the day Sunday is a complete zoo! We normally stay until mid to late week before heading home, depending on the weather.

Dana, are you flying the Sonex or commercially? I hope there's a big turnout this year! I can't wait!

I am planing on flying my Sonex. I am going to fly to SE Iowa and visit family on the way for a day maybe 2. everything is weather dependent. However I plan to leave around July 17 and will be in no rush to get home. I don't want any pressure to complete the flight. I will be in Homebuilt Camping as of now.

I've been there for 16 years in a row, so not stopping now :-) But I'll be rafting the Grand Canyon the week before OSH, so I won't be flying my plane there this year. Next year for sure, though.

I’ll be there, and will have “Camp Sonex” formed again in the homebuilt camping area. Send me a note if you’re flying in and camping and I’ll make sure we clam enough space for everyone!

Making the trip again this year, but bringing my household commander (call sign Rotten Egg 6) along. She wants to watch planes "flip and tumble". This will be a short trip as a follow-on mission is to go to the UP of Michigan and sight see light houses!
See all at Open House.

I'm sure Stogie6 will have a legendary supply of cubans and jack for Camp Sonex. David knows how to roll heavy!

Seriously, though, it's gonna be good to catch up with everyone. See you there!

Actually, there will be Dominican and Honduran cigars...Cubans are over rated these days. And, some Monkey Shoulder scotch!
