How: Insert Tailwheel spring into Pivot fitting?

Hello Sonex/Onex builders,

I am writing to ask how did you install SNX-LO3-03 Tail Wheel Spring into the ONX-LO3-04 Tailwheel Pivot fitting?
The plans page is ONX-LO3

The spring will not slide into the pivot fitting. I tried to tap it in with a hard rubber mallot but it does not go in at all.

Don, that sounds like the better problem to have than it fitting quite loosely like mine did. I would just use some sand paper or a scotch brite pad on a stick chucked in a drill motor to remove some of the powder coating in the pivot assembly. Remove just enough to get it in. The tighter the better.
